Orthodontic Treatments
Orthodontic treatment sometimes needs help from oral surgery to achieve the best results. Our surgeons work closely with orthodontists to perform procedures that make tooth movement possible or more efficient, such as removing crowded teeth, exposing impacted canines, or assisting with jaw and bone adjustments. These treatments help create the right conditions for a healthy, well-aligned smile. With years of experience and strong relationships with local orthodontists, Rancho Del Rey Oral & Facial Surgery Center is trusted for precise, comfortable care and excellent communication throughout every stage of treatment.
Impacted Canine Treatment
Canine teeth are key to a functional and attractive smile, but they sometimes fail to erupt correctly. Our surgeons perform minor procedures to expose impacted canines so orthodontists can guide them into place. This collaborative approach helps preserve the natural tooth and promotes proper alignment with minimal discomfort.
Surgical Uprighting of Teeth
When a tooth, most often a growing molar, is angled or trapped below the gumline, surgical uprighting can help reposition it before it causes problems. The surgeon gently adjusts the tooth’s position so it can erupt naturally, helping prevent more complex orthodontic or surgical treatment later.
Orthodontic Expansion
In patients whose upper jaw is too narrow, traditional orthodontics may not provide enough expansion. Surgically assisted rapid palatal expansion allows the upper jaw to widen more effectively, creating space for crowded teeth and improving the bite. Our surgeons perform this procedure in coordination with the orthodontist to achieve stable, long-term results.
Frenectomy
A tight or thick frenum (the small band of tissue beneath the tongue or between the front teeth) can interfere with tooth movement or cause gaps to reopen after treatment. A simple frenectomy removes or loosens this tissue to support proper alignment and long-term orthodontic stability.
Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs)
TADs are small titanium anchors placed in the bone to give orthodontists extra control over difficult tooth movements. Our surgeons precisely position these devices for comfort and accuracy, allowing more efficient treatment and predictable outcomes.
